What is radon and how does it effect me?

How do I know if I have high levels of radon?

Call a radon tester. You cannot see or smell radon but it is not hard to find out if you have a radon problem. Ensure your families safety by getting a professional test done. Its simple and only takes a couple minutes of your time. A radon tester will place testing devises throughout your home to monitor the average radon levels. In a couple days they will come back to collect the devices and send you the results! Radon is measured in pCi/L. The EPA highly recommends mitigation techniques be used if your levels are 4 pCi/L or above. Levels less than 4 still pose a risk, and in many cases can be reduced.

Where and how is a mitigation system installed?

A radon mitigation system is installed to be a permanent and integrated part of your house. A mitigation system starts in the lowest part of the home where the radon comes from. It is then routed through the house to the outside by exiting the box sill or roof. The fan is the systems most important part and is either installed in the attic or the outside of the home. The Radon Guy is a licensed mitigation contractor and knows the best places to install the system so it pulls the most radon out of the ground before it enters your home. The majority of our systems can placed in the unfinished parts of the basement near the other utilities. A U-Tube is placed on each system to make sure the fan is working properly. With the system being nearly maintenance free and mitigating up to 99% of the radon gas it is easy to see why so many people are having these systems installed. It’s providing a peace of mind knowing that you and your family won’t be breathing in these harmful gases.
